Hi Foundation GRFX

Time is running up and the deadline for the assignment is near. Please do not forget your evaluation before submitting your FMP. You can use the notes I gave you for units 5, 6 & 7 to help you out. As for setting up your FMP please note that this must be done professionally. All items must be clearly labeled and in your case (tip) you can use a typeface that you have used for your report or poster etc. as long as it is legible. Your Reflective Diary, Technical Journal and Sketch book must have your name clearly visible labeled.

I wish all of you the best of luck. I know that the majority worked hard on the FMP so please now give it that little bit extra effort so that your work will stand out and justify all the creative effort you have put in it.

Regards
Paul

Now this was the first Animation done by a New York newspaper cartoonist James Stuart Blackton who interviewd the inventor Thomas Edison who was experimenting with moving pictures as you saw in the previous post. In 1906 they publicly released Humorous Phases of Funny Faces the first animation. Blackton used about 3000 'flickering drawings' to make this first animated picture. He is the forefather of the animated cartoon. The animation shown in the previuos post was a test they did before this. The novelty brought explosions of laughter and was an instant hit!

Il-Gaġġa at ninth European Film Festival

By MaltaMedia NewsFeb 22, 2007 - 10:27:52 AM

Maltese full-length feature film Il-Gaġġa, directed by Mario Azzopardi over 35 years ago, will feature in the ninth Edition of the European Film Festival.
The Festival which, as in the past is being organised in collaboration with the Embassies of the EU Member States, will be launched on Saturday, 3rd March 2007 and run until Saturday 24th March to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Rome which was signed on 25th March 1957.
This edition will feature a variety of films from twenty-one Member States including Malta. Nineteen films are being presented at the Eden Cinemas, St. George’s Bay and two at the Citadel Theatre, Victoria, Gozo.
Il-Gaġġa will be screened on the first night. It based on a novel by Frans Sammut. Even though this film was a product of University students in 1971, it remains extremely topical and influential in today’s day and age. It is also one of Malta’s first cinematographic masterpieces, involving a long list of local talent. The 75-minute film was transferred to digital format and enhanced by Studio 7 Productions.
The second is an evening of Maltese short, recently produced films followed by a discussion on how the EU can help catalyse a film production industry in Malta. Only last week, the EU launched its new MEDIA 2007 programme which is set to financially boost to Europe’s film industry over the next seven years.
As in previous editions, the 9th European Film Festival will also be contributing to raise funds for a good cause. This year's proceeds will be collected in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust which provides information, advice, support and, where appropriate, financial assistance to anyone affected by Cystic Fibrosis.
Tickets at a voluntary price of Lm1 for each show will be available at the box office of both venues as from Friday 23rd February 2007.
